Cycling Adventures Begin at La Balie
We are definitely a little bit biased, because we think this is one of the best places in the world to explore by a bike. The locals refer to the area between Monflanquin, Villereal and Monpazier as the golden triangle!
Tranquil, traffic free lanes, linking the many Beaux Villages, that make up some of the most beautiful villages in France. From La Balie you can enter directly into the valley of Gavaudun, featuring chateau Gavaudun, Biron and the ancient hamlet of St Avit. You’ll pass by ancient mills, through forests, orchards and nut groves.
I moved from the UK to this area of France to enjoy the countryside that boasts rich medieval history and culture that has left a region of enchanting terrain to explore. Stopping off for coffee, lunch or just a beer or glass of local wine in one of the many cafes, restaurants that are dotted around the town and village squares is just an added treat!
Rich in agriculture and known for its gastronomy, the Lot et Garonne will not disappoint you after a day in the saddle building your appetite for a hearty dinner.

La Balie Cycling offers something for everyone. For the cyclist who wants to ditch the car and let the E-bike take the strain exploring the rolling countryside. To the enthusiasts looking for the challenge of a long climb or two. For the adventurous taking one of the many gravel routes that cris-cross the forests and join up the villages and hamlets. What ever your preference you won’t tire of the fantastic surroundings. You’ll also get to enjoy the best France has to offer when stopping off to refuel!

I have been cycling most of my life with clubs in the UK and am a veteran of many Audax rides and Semaine Federale weeks around France, so we can really help you plan your itinerary and get the most from your visit.
